Salam alaykum Ladies.

Its time to buckle up, take charge and focus on our finances! Today we’ll be introducing the Lotus Halal Fixed Income Fund! It’s the first Shariah Compliant Fixed Income Fund issued by Lotus Capital Limited through an initial offer for subscription.

We believe every area of our lives should be Shariah compliant so we strongly advise our darling sisters to pay attention to this.

You should have a reliable investment plan regardless of how much you earn or how tough the economy is. With as little as N5,000 Allah has made this possible through Lotus Capital. Alhamdulilah.

Please read and do not hesitate to ask questions.

Why has Lotus Capital chosen to launch a new fund?

Karimat: For many years, investors who have wished for short or medium term investments which exclude interest earning securities have been faced with very limited options and are sometimes compelled to keep some of their funds in cash instead.

Our main objective therefore is to provide an ethical or Shari’ah compliant alternative to conventional fixed income funds which typically invest in interest bearing securities such as treasury bills and bonds.

Can you tell us more about the new Fund?

Karimat: The Lotus Halal Fixed Income Fund is an open-ended mutual fund designed for investors with a low risk appetite, short to medium term investment outlook and seeking competitive returns.

The Fund will invest in a Shari’ah-compliant fixed income instruments such as Islamic bonds and profit sharing transactions.

What is an open-ended mutual fund?

Karimat: An open-ended mutual Fund has units continuously on offer to investors who can exit (redeem) and reinvest when they choose, as long as the Fund operates.

How can investors subscribe to the Fund?

Karimat: Investors can subscribe to the Fund during the offer period by completing and submitting the application form attached to the Prospectus along with the required Know-Your-Customer documents to us.

Who can invest in the Fund?

Karimat: Anyone can invest in the Fund with as low as N5,000.(5 units) which is the minimum investment. The Halal Fixed Income Fund is an excellent investment vehicle for savers who need to set aside for their children’s school fees, deposit to buy a house or car, start a business and much more.

So you mean instead of treating myself to a new pair of sandals I can begin to build an investment portfolio?

Karimat:  Yes you can, the time to start is always now. Never delay when it comes to building your future.

Our investors will receive competitive returns which will be distributed on a regular basis thereby providing a steady income stream.

Steady income stream. That caught my attention. This is something many Muslim women need. Do you also offer financial advice?

Karimat: Yes we do. We are registered financial advisers and are available to help everyone reach their financial goals. We have two free financial planning tools – the Lotus Financial Health Plan and the Lotus Education Plan, which are available on our website.

Not really, some of those funds have exposure to shares and possibly treasury bills but the Lotus Halal fixed Income Fund does not. It invests strictly in shariah compliant fixed return instruments.
